So I recently hit a milestone. Over 60 shows this year. SIXTY!!! Damn! Before this year I played maybe two or three solo shows a year.

Wednesdays in October have really been something special. I've been hosting the open mic nights at the Santa Fe Brewing Company and it's been inspirational. The folks showing up to play have had great energy. Last week we had an old timer who played for an hour, a three piece band (guitar, drums, and sax), and an entire group show up. It was packed.

Things have slowed down a little. I've taken a job so I can get back into the studio and record some new tracks. Allot of people have requested straight acoustic music like what I've been playing at the shows. Since I've had so much practice I figure it's a good idea. I'm finally getting my studio put back together.

We'll have to wait till next year for the Xmas album. I'm working on artwork for Lori Romero's book of poetry about storm chasing... our favorite hobby. It should be available for Christmas!!!

Sorry, I haven't updated anything but the calendar lately. I've just had so many shows (and so many more coming up). I'm starting to feel like Adam Sandler in The Wedding Singer. There have been far too many requests for Free Bird and Stairway to Heaven.

The wonderful thing about playing in Santa Fe is that they let me play whatever I want. They make no demands other than my time slot. The venues are all very supportive.

Speaking of my time slot...it's been quiet a change from living and playing in Los Angeles. In L.A. you usually played a 45 minute show and you were out the door. It seems the rest of the world requires more from you. Usually 3 hours plus! It was a bit of a challenge back in November when I played my first gig. I've had to add allot of songs to my repertoire. I've thrown in a bunch of blues songs (from the Blues Garage) days and some covers that I've always wanted to do (including Peter Gabriel, Beatles, Dave Matthews, even AC DC) and my acoustic playing has improved greatly. I now understand why Ani DiFranco swears by glue on nails, I have been shredding my fingernails nightly

I intend on getting out on the road. I really do. It' just that I keep getting bookings locally (including the District where John says, "I want you here every Tuesday until you die or I get tired of you").

Music has finally become my job and main source of income and I'm thankful. For me the worst gig is still better than the best day behind the desk.
